So you get yourself three skeins of wonderful TOSH DK and you start wondering “3 skiens huh? Too few to make a sweater, too many to make a hat. So what now? Maybe a shawl?”.
Do you want lace? Nope, you want the shawl to be warm and cozy, not see-through.
Do you want cables? Nope, too fussy.
So why not just stick to your good old friend Garter? And Stockinette to get some variety? And short rows for the challenge and excitement?
And then you knit. You increase here, wrap and turn there… and wait a second! The shawl starts resembling a bat. OMG! So what do you name it? Dracula? Nosferatu? Eric? Or maybe just VAMPYRE?

Size
One size: approx. 117 cm / 47” wide and 60 cm / 24” long at center spine.

Yarn
3 skeins of Madelinetosh TOSH DK (100% merino; 225y / 100g)
or approximately 617 meters / 675 yards of other DK weight yarn, which gives you the correct gauge.

Note from me about the yardage: If you have only three skeins, please make sure to obtain the correct working gauge. I used all 3 skeins of Tosh DK for my shawl.

Needles
4.5 mm / US #7 circular needle (80 cm / 32” long).

Other
1 stitch marker, tapestry needle for weaving.

Gauge
18 sts and 28 rows in 10 cm / 4” in St st measured flat after wet blocking.
Working gauge: 20 sts and 28 rows in 10 cm / 4” in St st.
The gauge isn’t crucial on this project, but differences will affect the finished size as well as the required yardage of yarn.
